Product Care

Hold on to your garments the better you look after them them the longer they last.

Make your Heimat garments your own. The more you wear them the better they will fit, feel, and look.

Wool Sweaters & Hats

Due to the high quality of our virgin wool, we recommend washing your sweaters only when really necessary. The natural oils within the wool have a self-cleaning effect. To refresh a sweater, it is usually enough to hang it outside overnight and let it air in the fresh air. All of our wool sweaters are machine washable. If you feel your wool hat or sweater are out of shape a gentle was will give the fibres its natural spring back (all of the above includes our cotton merino fleece products as well)

To help preserve the shape, texture, and longevity of the fabric, we recommend the following:

→ Always use a wool detergent.
→ Ensure the drum is only half full. A fuller drum creates more tension and friction, which generates heat and can cause shrinkage.
→ Wash at 30°C
→ Do not tumble Dry

Cotton Linen Sweaters & Hats

In many cases, simply hanging the garment outside overnight is enough to refresh it naturally. All of our cotton and linen garments are machine washable.

To help preserve the shape, texture, and longevity of the fabric, we recommend the following:

→ Use a mild detergent suitable for natural fibres.
→ Do not overload the drum keeping it around half full reduces friction and unnecessary stress on the fabric.
→ Wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
→ Do not tumble dry

Raglan Shirts

All fabrics used for our shirts have been pre-washed to minimise shrinkage. As a general rule, we recommend allowing for 1–2% shrinkage after the first wash.
Whenever possible, wash with soft water, as hard water can be harsher on your garments. Line dry in the sun if possible, or use a gentle tumble dry setting.

Pants & Shorts

All fabrics used for our cotton shorts and trousers have been pre-washed to minimise shrinkage and soften the fabric from the very first wear. As a general rule, we recommend allowing for 1–2% shrinkage after the first wash, which is natural for high-quality cotton garments.

Whenever possible, wash with soft water, as hard water can be harsher on natural fibres over time. Cotton will soften and develop character with wear, so caring for the garments properly will help preserve both their shape and texture for years to come. Line dry in the sun where possible, or use a gentle tumble dry setting.

To help preserve the shape, texture, and longevity of the fabric, we recommend the following:

→ Avoid washing more often than necessary — airing the garment between wears can help maintain freshness while extending its lifespan.
