Mercedes Benz Pit Stop
Shot at the Tripoli GP of 1937, held on the 9th of May. The Gran Premio was run at over 40 degrees, which led to overheating and higher fuel consumption than any other race in the racing calendar which caused a lot of engine failures and took its toll on the drivers. Advertised as the Monaco of the desert it was soon retired entirely. Some of the most significant drivers and racing machines of the 20th century are featured in the pictures. A group that came to prominence during a period in which Auto Union and Mercedes (also known as the silver arrows) totally dominated GP racing and many other areas of motorsport. With this background in mind, Herr Mueller, a keen amateur photographer, had ensconced himself in the pits and documented the showdown in the desert.
About the Photographer:
Wolfram Mueller (1907 - 1918) came from a highly privileged bourgeois background and mingled with the pre-jet-set of the first half of the 20th century. Although an amateur in the field of photography his work is exceptional. His archive was only recently discovered by one of his grandchildren. His works cover sports like skiing sailing and motor racing but also the day-to-day of his travels and get-togethers in his very active social circle. His pictures are not only historic documentation but a great artistic achievement. You can certainly say he had the skill to capture the moment.

CARE
Our wool has natural oils and is self cleaning. Just hang it outside in fresh air for a night. If you still want to machine wash it wash at 30 degrees wool cycle in a half full machine and use wool detergent.
